Admin:
NFOPad 1.58 is released. One of the new features is support for localizing NFOPad. I've added Swedish localization, if you are interested in translating NFOPad to any other language please contact me.

Change log:
+ Added support for multiple languages in the GUI. Added localizations for Swedish
+ Added setting to select whether to save the window position/size on exit
+ Added word count in the search dialog
+ Hourglass cursor shown during large operations
+ "New Window" will open the new window with a small offset
+ Replace All optimized
+ "Open" defaults to system default encoding and "Reopen" remembers the selected encoding
+ Bugfix: The program settings INI file is now saved as Unicode
+ Bugfix: Changing the word wrap setting no longer resets the tab width
+ Bugfix: Printing large texts with lots of tabs was very slow
+ Bugfix: Application could crash if unable to read the INI file

How about adding such an option:
When "Word Wrap" is enabled, "Auto Window Width" is only effective on NFO files.

How about adding a menu item (in View menu) to toggle between NFO/TXT mode temporarily for the current view. In case the opened file has a mismatched extension name.

Yes, some kind of quick switch between nfo/txt viewing would be good.

Regarding word wrap, why would one want different settings for nfo/txt?

ST Re: NFOPad 1.58 2010-05-24 09:27:58
When viewing NFO, I prefer "Auto Window Width".

But when viewing TXT, I prefer "Word Wrap" within fixed or current window width.

Some text editors can save a specific window size and position, which can be restored at any time. This could be another solution.

suggestion for future versions:
adding an option to select the default saving template for nfo files.
the most important option will be selecting the default encoding to use when saving!

i find myself doing countless selecting the utf-8 encoding for nfo files!!! when i save in utf-8 encoding and then i want to save another file it doesn't remember that i saved in utf-8 encoding, it returns to the default encoding!

please, consider my suggestion!
thank you, and btw great piece of software!

edit: found a workaround!
when saving the first time in utf-8 encoding, i don't close the thread aka the window session, and then i "select all" and paste the clipboard copy of the new nfo and do a "save as" and it remains in utf-8 encoding.

still it takes some time but it's better then selecting the utf-8 encoding over and over again!

admin, what do you think about my suggestion and workaround?

Admin:
I actually considered that for this version. I will try to add it for the next.

Yes, your workaround will work for your purpose I guess.

The selected encoding is saved until you press New or open a new file, then the encoding in that file will be used in the save as dialog.
